As part of their 90th anniversary celebration this year, Gucci has taken a stylish spin with another titan of Italian design, Fiat. The special edition car was recently showcased at the Geneva Motor Show.
The 500 by Gucci marries the design ethos of two of Italy’s most historical brands will be available in black with bright chrome details, and white with satin-finish chrome, both circumscribed by Gucci’s trademark green and red stripes below the window line.
Lacy 16-inch wheels with colour-coordinated insets feature Gucci’s interlocking GC logo makes an appearance on hubcaps, and topping off the design is the cursive Gucci signature, which you’ll find on the hatchback as well as the doorpost. The B-pillar and lift gate are embellished with the word “Gucci” in a sassy cursive font.
At the cool price of +/-R173 000.00 when converted from the Europeans € 17 000 we hope the Fiat makes it to local shores.
Throughout the sporty car, you’ll find distinctive Gucci elements starting with their, which runs along the exterior and also appears inside on the seats, gearshift, carpet, and seatbelt.
“When the Fiat 500 first hit the road in the fifties it created a style revolution.” says creative director Frida Gianinni. “Gucci’s history has always been about travelling in style so when this collaboration came up, it struck me as the perfect opportunity to create a new modern travel statement.”
Hit the road in true Italian style in a complementing exclusive 500 by Gucci collection of travel accessories, leather goods, track suits, driving accessories and sunglasses, all of which will be available in select Gucci stores and on www.gucci.com starting this April.
