WOMAN ON WAX… THIS IS MISS PRU

ON MISS PRU…

A former beauty therapist – turned first female DJ from the Vaal, a Fuse Academy Lecturer and the host of The Sound Evolution on Rhythm 100 Radio – This is Miss Pru!

Born and bred in the Vaal Triangle, Prudence Sebalo has always had a knack for the arts and crafts. From dramatic acting to contemporary dancing Prudence has always been destined to be a main player on stage.

It’s 2008 and her ever growing zeal for expressing her musical side saw her do a complete 360 degrees turn, changing lanes from working as a beauty therapist  to become a professional DJ. Since having experienced other forms of performing arts such as drama and dancing , Miss Pru had a firm understanding of the passion, patience and dedication that was required from her to shine as a performer.

As big dreams don’t come to reality easily; where Miss Pru is today didn’t also come easy. The first step was to learn how to mix, and with that came the challenge of finding a credible instructor to would teach her the fundamental skills of being a DJ.

Most prospective mentors were either too busy or they needed some sort of favour in return. The fighting spirit in her knew that she would one day become one of the most respected female DJs in SA and that’s why she kept at it.

February 2009, Miss Pru enrolled at the Fuse Academy and has never looked back since. Today, the sassy DJ boasts of a short but very colourful and accomplished DJ career.  She has already proven to be a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.

Her commitment and undying passion for the music has seen her showcasing her skills alongside industry giants such as Louis Vega, Josh Milan, Anane, Oskido, Vinny Da Vinci, Black Coffee, DJ Christos just to name but a few.

She always been featured on some of the biggest stages on the house music scene has on offer today, from the annual SAMC, to Dance Ritual party featuring Louie Vega and Josh Milan to her most recent visit to the Miami Winter Music Conference. And this is still the beginning…

S.H.E Sassy House Experience

On S.H.E & The FUSE ACADEMY

Miss Pru joined the Fuse Academy back in February 2009 with the aim of improving and formalizing her skills as a professional DJ. “I knew that the best way to learn and grow was to associate myself with one of the most recognized female DJs in the industry, DJ Zinhle.”

For those who don’t know, The FUSE Academy was founded by DJ Zinhle and Nomndeni Mdakhi, with the main purpose of empowering other young females interested in a career within the house music industry.

After completing her formal training at the Academy, Prudence was invited back as a lecturer and has since taught well over 50 young aspirant females how to deejay on both the wheels of steel (turntables) and on CDJ’s.

S.H.E is a Fuse Academy initiative, which aims to introduce newly qualified female deejays into the music industry. Miss Pru was selected by Fuse Academy to be a part of this female DJ empowerment concept.

Here collaborates with DJ Zinhle, playing as a duo at events around the country. This is an opportunity for Miss Pru to showcase her talents and meet the who’s who in the industry. Through this program, Fuse Academy offers Miss Pru all the business support needed to launch her as a brand.
